The Tension Bench is based on the folding, stitching, and wiring of clothing in America at the turn of the century. The structure of those pieces was the detail and the aesthetic. This piece emerged as a way to re-look at that construction.  For example, the stitching typically used as a connector, is now used as a surface. The chair illustrates forces of compression and tension. It is a system that works together in balance in order to work at all.
